About Me

  1. Hi there,

My name, as you can probably guess from the blogs title is Sophia. I was born in germany, grew up in austria and now live part in the states, new orleans to be exact, thailand and palestine.

I'm currently working towards a degree in New Media Communications. Being an artist at heart, I hope to gain the necessary expertise to land a creative job, such as video editor, web designer or  illustrator upon completing this program. As you've read, me and my family are constantly on the move, so being able to work online is a must with my lifestyle.

In 2019, I got certified to teach yoga, which is still a hobby and side job for me. I've worked as a professional dancer in my early 20's and always been involved in some sort of movement practice.

When it comes to online communication, I am probably most interested in learning about how to go about resolving conflict, especially towards a bigger audience. My experience with building a brand online is foundational, but I would also like to learn how to build trust in a company through online communication.

During COVID, I used social channels such as Facebook and Instagram intensely, to build an online business and for personal expression. Since then my relationship with these platforms have changed and I feel more free and happy when I am off of those. Since I do have family all around the world and manage some businesses from my phone, I still use Facebook's messenger app regularly. I am planning to get back on IG as well to promote my business again after a long break.

Before transferring to OSU, I've taken one communication course. There, I learned about the importance of non-verbal and business related communication. My goal for this term is to broaden my understanding on how I can make an impact when sharing and showing up online. I want to become an authentic and valuable communicator through text, video and illustrations. Other than that, I am looking for a part-time job to support my studies!

    Thanks for reading,

    Sophia
